During Patrick’s wide-ranging career at the cutting edge of the audio engineering world one thing has remained constant: His drive to fulfill his client’s vision!
He began his career at Signet Sound (a boutique film scoring studio occupying Motown’s west coast studio), first as a runner, and then as an assistant engineer. With years in this role he became very comfortable working with directors, producers, composers, and talent of all stripes in high-pressure deadline driven situations. In his time there he worked on over 50 major motion picture scores for the likes of Randy Newman, Thomas Newman, Terence Blanchard, Rolf Kent, and Steven Trask
In 2007 Patrick made the move to the Legendary Ocean Way Recording (recently re-named United Western), and Record One. Here he had an education in classic recording gear, and techniques for pop, rock, Jazz, hip hop, and scores. At Ocean Way Patrick worked for such wide ranging artists as Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, Herbie Hancock, Dr. Dre, Beck, John Mayer, Dave Stewart, Seal, Pink, Dido, Erykah Badu, Brandi Carlile, Paramore, Gerald Wilson, and (Posthumously) Barry White.
In 2011 Patrick was offered an opportunity to join the Motion Picture Editors Guild and work for Todd-AO in Santa Monica at Lantana. His first show there was an FX playback of “Avengers” for Joss Whedon on the gigantic stage 2! It was the big time and one was expected to perform right out of the gate! It was another expansive learning experience, this time in the state of the art dub stage.
Throughout all of this in 2005 Patrick began freelancing as an audio engineer. So much so that in 2007 he created his own engineering company: Invent AV Inc. During all of these career moves he has kept busy filling his free time with gigs recording and mixing music as well as taking jobs as a sound designer/mixer for films and television. Most importantly he’s always keeping his client’s needs in the forefront of his mind.
